1940 - 1945

Hungary eventually became the fourth member of the Axis powers. Together with the other members it participated in the invasion of Yugoslavia and the Soviet Union. In 1943, the country attempted to make a separate peace with the United States. That did not work and Germany invaded the country in March 1944. The war lasted for the Hungarians until April 1945.
